Good to know
- Մայր and հայր are the neutral “mother” and “father”; everyday speech uses the affectionate մայրիկ and հայրիկ, and children say մամա and պապա.
- Uncles and aunts depend on the side of the family: քեռի is your mother’s brother, հորեղբայր your father’s; մորաքույր is your mother’s sister, հորաքույր your father’s.
- Պապիկ is “grandpa”, not “dad” — do not confuse it with the childish պապա.
